You're all far too young to know any of of these (well, you may have heard of 1 or 2) but this is the list of bands I've seen live on stage (in no particular order) over the last xx years (I saw the first one before some/most/all of the DJ's here were born)

Status Quo (off to see them again in November)
Mud
Sweet
Slade
ShowaddyWaddy
Rubettes (all original members and still touring)
Live Aid 85 (Won't list them all)
Michael Jackson
Kim Wilde
Marti Wilde
Wayne Fontana
P J Proby
Dave Edmunds
The Crickets (as in Buddy Holly & The Crickets)
Swinging Blue Jeans
Beach Boys
Freedie & The Dreamers
Gerry & The Pacemakers (we actually did a 30min Rock'n'Roll dance demo as a warm up for them at the Haven park in Hastings. Never been applauded/cheered by so many before or since)
Tremeloes
Searchers
Chris Montez
Joe Brown
Little Eva
Bruce Springsteen (in Denver)
Pointer Sisters (in Las Vegas)
Dave Dee et al
Barron Knights
Mersey Beats
Dakotas
Marmalade
John Walker (of Walker brothers fame)
Carl Palmer (of ELP)
Jools Holland
Mediaeval Babes

I'm sure there are more but when you get to my age the old ....

sorry, what was I saying ?

PS: Arachna & The Phobics (a local band. I was the singers Best Man and know the rest of the band)

We've seen Status Quo twice now, both times at outside events where we've been able to position ourselves near the sound desk. You don't so much hear The Quo as feel them. If you can't feel the music then it's not loud enough.

That's a very difficult one to answer. Showaddywaddywaddywaddy were dire, not a patch on what they used to be like. The lead singer was awful.

If I really had to choose it would be between Sweet, Mud, Michael Jackson, Dave Edmonds or Beach boys. They all have their good points but these are possible the best.

One further band I could add are That'll Be The Day who are like a cabaret group doing music from 50's to 80's with comedy thrown in. Their former lead singer, Katy Setterfield (sp?) won a TV "look/sound alike" talent show as Dusty Springfield and won a 3 month contract in Las Vegas. I wouldn't say she had a powerful voice but she didn't need a mic !!

I could also add Mediaeval Babes as a favourite but that's for an entirely different reason Blush
Well, I've got to think on that a bit (seen so many...)
ACDC
Whitesnake
Motorhead
Alice Cooper
Girlschool
Pink Floyd
Simple Minds
Simply Red
Sting
The Offspring
Green Day
Franz Ferdinand
The Coral
Kings of Leon
White Stripes
Iron Maiden
Marilyn Manson
Goldie Looking Chain
Foo Fighters
The Hives
Peaches
Iggy Pop
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Saxon
Kasabian
Feeder
Robots in Disguise
Madness

These are just the ones I can remember Blush
Whitesnake!!! Was you singing to that song...'Here I Go Again...' Big Grin
Am impressive list Mike. The artists are certainly younger than in my list Smile
I didn't know you were at Live Aid 85, DF - whereabouts in the stadium were you (roughly) ?
Looking towards the stage, to the left of the centre circle.

(I didn't see you there though nut then there were 1 or 2 other people there as well)

When you were looking at the stage - if you looked to the right and skywards, there was a row of scaffolding, with people perched about 20ft above the stage - I was there a lot, and also in the dip behind the stage (in the gap between the stage and the backdrop)....

But I would have waved to you if I had known you were there! Tongue

Wasn't it the most amazing experience!

The crowd were incredible - they danced and sung for hours and no-one seemed to moan at being packed in like sardines and the shortage of loos etc.
