Heard a Rod Stewart track on the radio the other day - haven't heard his old stuff for ages!
"Sailing" gets played a lot, and "Baby Jane" - but do you remember "The Motown Song" ?
Personally I think his best stuff was mid-70s to the early 80s. Not really been a fan of his "soft rock" phase. Maybe old age has mellowed him or something.
Motown Song is OK in a radio friendly, foot tapping way but it's no more than that IMHO.

I'd agree with you on that. His earlier stuff was much better but, in my opinion, he lost his way as time progressed.
Handbags and Gladrags (released in 1972 from the "An old raincoat wont ever let you down" album, is probably my favorite Rod Stewart song, followed by "The killing of Georgie parts 1 and 11" (weird name!) from 1976 album "A night on the town" (had to look that one up!)
His later stuff I dont like so much - except for "Downtown Train" (1989) which I sing along to in the car (can't sing at home, it upsets the cat)
