I used to love milk in bottles - the clanking of the milkman at dawn and being the first one to grab the bottle off the step so I got the cream on my cornflakes before my sister did Big Grin

We used to have to beat the birds though - or they would peck through the foil and nick it first! Mum had a weird cover thing that the milkman used to put the milk bottles inside to keep the birds off them - but the cat learn how to open it climb inside and lay in wait for the birds so that went binwards!Confused

Now milk is the same from the top of the bottle down - why doesn't it have the same "layers" that old fashioned milk used to have?

The "Humphreys" have been in first ?

sorry, I forgot - you are all far too young to know anything about this. I'll go back to my rocking chair in the conservatory.
I actually rermember the "Humphrey" campaign. I can't specifically remember the ads but certainly the whole thing. At a much younger age than I am now I used to drink milk "neat" so to speak but now I can't bear it unless it has something with it.

I'm also old enough to be one of those children that had milk at school (that's going back ennit?) and I'd be happy to see that make a comeback.
I remember milk at school - I was a milk monitor Big Grin

I used to have the enviable task of handing out the straws and I got to chose which colour straw they had - oh the power went straight to my head Big GrinBig Grin

So you see - when I want to argue with you and don't want to back down, you can blame it all on my mis-spent childhood handing out straws. Tongue

Think I was 6 yrs old at the time...... I know I had long plaited hair and you were not allowed to lose your plaits and have pigtails until your were 7 ....... strange school rules there were back then in the age of the dinosaurs.
I remember when we use to get a milk man come to our door but every morning we went outside to get the bottle and we kept finding it empty! We kept telling the milk man that we was paying for nothing really but he thought it was a joke so we would get more milk for free... But at the end we just gave up and now we buy our milk from ASDA so no-one can get there hands on it!
