Last Wednesday, 9th December, LIve and Unleashed was literally unleashed in London to help entertain the children from this wonderful hospital.

We took over the boardroom for the afternoon and along with the dedicated team of staff and a wonderful magician, we entertained the children from the wards who were well enough to come to the boardroom and join in the Christmas festivities.

It was great fun, and our thanks go to the intensive care staff who invited us to join them, and all the behind the scenes people who made the afternoon happen so wonderfully.

Our especial thanks go to Luke, a delightful young lad who stole our hearts on a cold miserable winter afternoon as he sang his way through the Christmas songs, despite having recently had life saving surgery and feeling distinctly "fragile".
A very merry Christmas to you all xx

This follows a weekend of frantically rounding up support from all concerned, as Starlight dipped 1% behind as the final hurdle loomed at midnight last Sunday!
A day of emails, promotions and generally badgering listeners until they voted meant that the poll closed at midnight with Starlight winning by 2%.
Today it was confirmed they had won!

It will make a huge addition to the finances available to them to make dreams and wishes come true for critically and terminally ill children, and here at MTJR we want to say a HUGE thank you to all our listeners who voted, to all our friends who we got out of bed at dawn on Sunday to vote - and just as they were drifting off to sleep after lunch, we called them again to make sure they had!
The seasonal flu vaccine is now available to everybody over 65 and people of all ages who have medical conditions , for example diabetes, heart disease etc. This seasonal flu vaccine is available from your GP.

The new swine flu vaccine is for people with medical conditions which place them at risk. Pregnant women, will be at heightened risk from swine flu. This means that some people need to have both the seasonal flu vaccine and the swine flu vaccine.
Make sure you keep safe and healthy this winter. Always remember to keep clean and wash your hands every time you go to the loo and if you cough or sneeze, make sure you catch it and bin it - to make sure this germs don't spread.

A-ha to split after 25 yearsThe Norwegian pop trio are to go their separate ways, taking their fancy haircuts and perfect cheekbones into politics

After 25 years of pouting and posing, A-ha are calling it quits. The Norwegian pop trio have announced that they will go their separate ways at the end of 2010.

"Change is always difficult and it is easy to get set in one's ways," the group said. "Now it is time to move on." Of course, A-ha are not moving on quite yet. Morten Harket, Paul Waaktaar-Savoy and Magne Furuholmen will stage a global farewell tour over the next 13 and a half months, finishing with a 4 December gig in Norway in 2010. Tickets for the final concert, at Oslo's Spektrum arena, went on sale this morning.

Beginning with their 1985 debut, Hunting High and Low, A-ha have been one of the most enduring acts in pop. Buoyed by early hits like Take On Me and The Sun Always Shines On TV, A-ha have sold more than 35m albums worldwide. Their ninth studio album, Foot of the Mountain, reached No 5 earlier this year.

"We've literally lived the ultimate boy's adventure tale," the group said, overlooking most boys' preference for swords and spaceships over fancy haircuts. "[Splitting up] will give us a chance to get more involved in other meaningful aspects of life, be it humanitarian work, politics, or whatever else – and, of course, through new constellations in the field of art and music."

A-ha have broken up once before, after the commercial flop of 1993's Memorial Beach. Around that time, members of the band began recording side- and solo-projects; this continued even after the group re-formed at the Nobel Peace Prize concert in 1998. With the promise that "[A-ha] are retiring as a band, not as individuals," further solo releases seem likely.

The final studio album of what Numan retrospectively termed the "Machine" section of his career, Telekon reintroduced guitars to Numan's music and featured a wider range of synthesisers. The same year he embarked on his second major tour ("The Teletour") with an even more elaborate stage show than The Touring Principle the previous year. Although considered a success, Numan claimed the tour actually lost him a great deal of money because of the vast expense in mounting it. By this time he was weary of the pressures of fame and announced his retirement from touring with a series of sell-out concerts at Wembley Arena in April 1981, supported by Alternative musician Nash the Slash and Shock, a rock/mime/burlesque/music troupe whose members included Barbie Wilde, Tik and Tok and Carole Caplin. The decision to retire would be short-lived – in his autobiography he recalls walking out onto an empty stage after his final concerts and thinking, "What the fuck have I done?" – but it would have a fateful effect on his career, as Numan found the fickle pop audience quickly turned its attention to other artists.

Right...well this has been a long time coming but it's finally here...the Sunday night Pearce presenter blog, possibly the most eagerly awaited news of this century, perhaps even this millenium!

Ok, ok so that was an exaggeration. But it's here anyway whether you want to read it or not!

If you've not heard the show before then it is every Sunday night between 9pm and 11pm, and is for those of you who are hardcore enough to stay up past bedtime on sunday night!

The show is mainly centered around music, where I play some classic tracks from all decades, from the 60's till today. I also take requests, send your name and request on a postcard to James.Pearce@mtjr.co.uk.
Unless it's odd and I'm unlikely to have it, I will endeavour to play anything!

Also on the show we have some strange goings on from around the world this week and the revival of 'Cheese of the week' may well be bought back, so get out those crackers (or whatever you crazy kids spread cheese on nowadays) ready.

So get busy listening! On these weeks show we will potentially have the addition of some skydive info, and if I can work out how to rip the sound off, what I sound like skydiving (as I did a skydive today for a local hospice). Which brings me nicely on to my next point, if anyone wants to add anymore donations it's not too late...Click here

And for proof Click here for pictures!

Ciao for now!
